SIP Connectivity

Firewalls and routers were not designed for VoIP traffic. Technical problems include Network Address Translation (NAT), far-end NAT Traversal, and maintaining state in a real-time VoIP conversation.

In addition, SIP is a complex standard, defined by more than 110 separate documents. This leads to vendors interpreting the standard differently with resulting interoperability problems. For example, the combination of a PBX from one well-known vendor with a commonly used SIP trunk implementation, allows either inbound calls or outbound calls, but not both.

Problems such as these mean that significant effort is often needed to connect equipment from different vendors, and it is not uncommon to spend days or weeks troubleshooting connectivity issues.

The UM Labs product line directly addresses these issues. It provides a complete solution for the problems of Network Address Translation (NAT) and far-end NAT Traversal, and includes a unique scripting capability to ensure that any IP PBX can connect to any trunk service.
