UM Labs secures Nvidia’s Omniverse Cloud XR SDK, fully tested in the Belfast City Council and BT group trials.

Augmented Reality (AR) in Omniverse is delivered using Omniverse Cloud-XR[1] that enables 3-D data to be streamed to modern Android and iOS mobile devices capable of running AR applications. This provides the perfect platform for developing and running Cloud eXtended Reality (XR) applications, with the limitation of data in transit, data transferred between the cloud rendering platform and the display device requires greater protection of IP applications and IP content, especially running in the higher bandwidth 5G networks to enhance usability for applications such as digital twins across the internet. For many applications this may be an inconvenience but for those where compliance and cyber security is to dovetail, becomes a critical factor and the adherence to this represents a real showstopper. As the advanced solutions in finance, defence, healthcare, all critical communications and manufacturing using industrial IOT applications, it means these challenges need to be addressed for deployment.
